Driving MIXED, TARMAC AND OFF-ROAD TRACKS

Best for MOUNTAIN BIKING AND CAMPING

Recommended for A WEEKEND OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

This remote, breathtakingly scenic route is interspersed with friendly villages, beautiful plantations and shy wildlife. A midpoint between Al Madinah and Yanbu city, this route offers a fantastic and accessible drive to the peak of Jibal al Fiqrah.

This route begins with a smooth tarmac road winding past views of the overlapping peaks of the Fiqrah Mountains in the distance. As you make your way, you will notice several villages and terraced fields. If you chance upon some local farmers tending to their field, stop by and see what they’ve harvested – you might even bag yourself some fresh dates to enjoy during the drive.

This route connects to a road that takes you directly to Yanbu city, so it’s a great route to enjoy before heading on to the Red Sea.

  Terraced Fields

This area is home to farms growing crops on terraced fields that have been built into the side of the rocky landscape. Terraced farming is a great way to create arable farmland in harsh mountain terrain. It also acts as a current breaker to calm the water flow passing through valleys during the rainy season.

  Jibal al Fiqrah

At 1,700m above sea level, Jibal al Fiqrah is one of the tallest mountains in the Madinah Region. It is the perfect vantage point to get a feel for the western area's dramatic landscape. Hiking is an excellent way to explore the mountain, just make sure you have the proper footwear and supplies before heading out.

Batcave
THE RED SEA

Aside from being a vital sea trade route since ancient times, the Red Sea is also one of the richest habitats for marine biodiversity in the world. It is home to 1,200 species of fish, 300 corals, and many other marine species such as dolphins, sharks and turtles. Unsurprisingly, this makes it a popular destination for divers.

  Mountain Biking

The mix of tarmac and unpaved path of this route makes it a thrilling ride on two wheels. This route doesn’t loop, so going up the mountain could be a welcome challenge for those feeling fit. You can then enjoy the fast, exhilarating trip back down.

DRIVING DIRECTION

This route has some great tracks that pass terraced fields and stunning viewpoints. With some tricky terrain to navigate, it will keep you on your toes.

1     Take a left onto the track to see the terraced fields and to get closer to Jibal al Fiqrah. Or you can stay on the paved road for a quicker route and take a right t to the viewpoint for a stunning valley panorama.

2     Turn off the paved road and follow the tracks further up the mountain.

3     The track here gets rough as you head down to the valley floor. There are numerous tracks you can take to extend your trip along this part of the route. There are great spots for mountain biking, quad biking and camping.

4     Follow the track through the valley.

5     The track becomes paved and you can head out of the valley towards
Al Musayjid.
